High Ownership. Low Ego. Real Impact

We’ve recently closed our AUD $35M Series B, and with that comes the next big chapter for our Product & Engineering organisation.

We’re actively hiring across Senior Engineering roles in Sydney and Vancouver  – spanning full stack Engineerings, DevOps, and QA – to help scale a product used and loved by 150+ law firms globally, including AmLaw 100 firms.

Rather than telling you why Nexl is a great place to work, we thought we’d do something more useful.

We spoke directly to the engineers building our platform today and asked them what it’s actually like to work in a fast-growing tech company: how they grow, how they ship, how they collaborate, and why this moment in Nexl’s journey feels different.

We’re Hiring

If you’re an engineer who’s scaled before, values ownership over hierarchy, and is looking for meaningful impact at Series B stage, Nexl is the place for you.

You can view our open roles here

High Trust, High Ownership

Engineers at Nexl don’t wait for permission to solve problems. They’re trusted to take challenges end-to-end, choose the right approach, and ship with pace and accountability.

“There’s no micromanagement here — we’re trusted to get our work done. The autonomy is huge.” — Molly, Senior Frontend Engineer

Our engineering structure is intentionally flat and collaborative. Responsibilities rotate, unblock sessions are run by the team, and engineers actively support each other’s craft. Trust isn’t a perk — it’s a prerequisite for velocity.

Low Ego, High Collaboration

Across every conversation, the message was the same: no egos, no heroes — just strong teams doing thoughtful work.

Work is visible, shared, and discussed openly across squads. Every release cycle includes company-wide demos, where teams show what they’ve shipped, what they’ve learned, and what’s coming next.

“There’s no ego — just genuinely curious people who want to build good things together. Everyone shares ideas freely and supports each other.” — Francesca, Engineering Success Manager

These rituals build psychological safety — and that safety enables honest feedback, better decisions, and stronger engineering outcomes.

Real Career Acceleration

What stands out most to engineers at Nexl isn’t perks or process. It’s how quickly they grow.

Experimentation is encouraged. Challenging patterns is normal. Engineers take on meaningful architectural ownership early, with the backing to see decisions through.

“If you find a better way to build something, you don’t just get heard — you get to own it. You don’t wait for permission to innovate.” — Charlie, Full-Stack Engineer

Engineers tend to level up fast because they get:

  • Exposure across the full stack
  • Visibility across the entire business
  • Direct influence on product direction
  • Ownership of meaningful technical outcomes

For many, it’s the steepest acceleration curve they’ve experienced in their career.

What We’re Building Right Now

This isn’t maintenance work. Engineering at Nexl is about solving the kinds of problems that emerge at Series B scale.

  1. AI-first product experiences   Reimagining how lawyers and business development teams collaborate inside Nexl.
  2. Reusable frontend systems “We built a server-side rendered table that’s flexible and reusable — it’ll be the foundation for future growth.” — Molly
  3. Stronger testing and release frameworks “Seeing teams feel more confident heading into release cycles has been huge. That’s the impact that matters.” — Francesca
  4. AI embedded in daily workflows From debugging and prototyping to translation and pattern exploration, AI is treated as a force multiplier — accelerating how teams work without replacing human judgment.

Nexl is at an inflection point where product complexity, customer scale, architecture, and global reach are all expanding at once. That creates meaningful engineering challenges — not make-work.

How We Work

Flexibility has been part of Nexl’s DNA from the beginning. As a globally distributed team, many engineers work remotely, while others collaborate in person throughout the week.

As we scale into 2026, we’re being intentional about creating more opportunities for engineers to come together in Sydney for deeper collaboration, while preserving the autonomy and flexibility that Nexl is known for.

Why Now

We’re at a moment where:

  • The company is scaling fast
  • Engineering ownership opportunities are expanding
  • The organisation is still small enough to influence
  • The problems are complex enough to be genuinely interesting
  • The culture is strong enough to support growth
  • The funding is secure enough to invest deeply in engineering

We intentionally hire experienced, high-performing engineers. People who have scaled systems, teams, or companies before, and want to do it again with more ownership and influence. Nexl is not an environment for passengers. It’s a place for builders who care deeply about craft, outcomes, and growing alongside the business.

“If you want to shape the future and be supported to grow, this is the best time to join.”
— Gerard, Backend Engineer (soon-to-be Tech Lead)
