Nexl, the growth system for law firms, today announced that Matt Redden will join the company as Chief Executive Officer on 5th October 2026. Founder Philipp Thurner will move into the role of Founder and Head of Innovation and continue as Chairman, focusing on product, AI, clients and what Nexl builds next.

The leadership change comes as Nexl enters its next stage of growth following its US$23m Series B led by Tidemark. The company serves 150 law firms globally and has built strong product-market fit in the legal market.

"The opportunity in front of Nexl has become too big for me to split my attention," said Thurner. "AI is fundamentally changing the legal industry, and I think we are still massively underestimating what comes next. Agentic software will change how firms operate, how lawyers work, how knowledge moves through an organization, how relationships are managed, and ultimately how firms grow. I want to give that opportunity my full attention."

Redden has spent his career scaling technology businesses and go-to-market organizations from tens of millions into hundreds of millions in revenue. At NEOGOV, he helped scale the business from approximately $25million to several hundred million of ARR. Earlier, at DealerSocket, he was part of the team that scaled the company from an early go-to-market organization of approximately $5million into a business of hundreds of millions of ARR.

"Matt is an exceptional operator, a strong people leader and someone I am incredibly excited to partner with," Thurner said. "He has done this stretch before, several times. That is exactly the operating and scaling experience Nexl needs for the next stage."

"Nexl has strong product-market fit, a customer base that relies on the platform and a founder who is choosing to go deeper into the product at the exact moment the industry is changing," said Redden. "My job is to help the team scale what already works. I am looking forward to learning from the team and our customers and building the operating engine for the next stage."

In his new role, Thurner will work closely with Nexl’s Chief Technology and Product Officer and the product and engineering teams, and directly with client firms, on Nexl's AI and product roadmap. A major focus will be agentic software across law firm relationships, knowledge and business development
