A Request for Proposal, or RFP, involves creating a formal proposal or response to a set of legal services project requirements and specifications for a client or potential client. In the legal world, organizations may use an RFP process for a number of purposes, such as selecting panel counsel or engaging firms for new matters. Governmental organizations may use a similar process for evaluating providers via a Request for Qualifications, or RFQ process.

The information required to respond to an RFP or RFQ often requires inputs from across the firm, from representative client lists to diversity statistics to information technology and data security concerns, requests for financials, firm policies and insurance coverage. The purpose of this template is to help Business Development and Marketing teams mange the process by organizing the project and collaborating with administrative departments and Attorneys, to centralize and activate all parties and efforts needed to respond to an RFP or RFQ.
